Item, stack, slot, and container calculations run in your browser. The site may still send one anonymous tool-use total after a successful calculation.
How to Use the Minecraft Stack Calculator
- Choose Items to storage to begin with an item total, or Stacks to items to reverse the calculation.
- Enter the whole-number quantity and select 64, 16, 1, or a custom items-per-stack limit.
- Select Calculate storage to see full stacks, loose items, occupied slots, and rounded-up container counts.
- Check the used and empty slots in the final inventory, shulker box, or double chest, then copy the storage plan.
How Items, Stacks, Slots, and Containers Are Calculated
For an item total, full stacks equal floor(items divided by stack size), and loose items are the division remainder. Occupied slots equal full stacks plus one only when the remainder is greater than zero. Reverse mode multiplies full stacks by the selected stack size and adds the loose items.
Container counts use ceiling division on occupied slots: 36 slots for the player main inventory and hotbar, 27 for a shulker box, and 54 for a double chest. Armor and offhand slots are not included. A zero-item plan needs zero slots and zero containers. The final-container detail shows how many slots are occupied and still empty after that rounding.
Minecraft Stack and Storage Examples
10,000 standard-stack items
At 64 items per stack, 10,000 items equal 156 full stacks plus 16 loose items. The partial stack needs one more slot, so the plan uses 157 occupied slots: 5 main-inventory trips, 6 shulker boxes, or 3 double chests.
One exact double chest
At 64 items per stack, 3,456 items equal exactly 54 full stacks with no remainder. That fills all 54 slots of one double chest or exactly two 27-slot shulker boxes.
Three stacks and seven smaller-stack items
In reverse mode with stack size 16, 3 full stacks plus 7 loose items equal 55 items. The loose remainder occupies a fourth slot.
Choosing the Correct Stack Size
Minecraft items do not all share one limit. The standard preset is 64, while some items use 16 and unstackable items use 1. Custom supports server, command, or mod planning, but the calculator does not identify an item or verify a custom rule. Check the current in-game item behavior before gathering or building storage.
Storage Assumptions and Limits
This first release plans one item type at one selected stack size. It does not combine mixed partial stacks, calculate recipes, count armor or offhand space, model bundles, or place filled shulker boxes inside another shulker box. Container totals assume every occupied slot holds this same item type.
